rachel. south mountain

while rachel was in town we went on a lil hike at south mountain.

here's finn screaming to all the neighbors. "these people promised to take me on a hike. i'm ready. come on already. let's go!" the motorcycle cop who hangs out on our street, right in front of our house to catch the speeders through the school zone, doesn't quite know what to think. this is one of finn's favorite past times. shouting out the door.

my boys on top of the wooooooorld.

so thirsty.
bryan's amazing talent not in focus.

i got him on the way down.
where he started to doze off & by the time we reached the bottom he was out.
& slept the whole way home. being carried in a pack is tough!
skye wanted in bryan's lap. or at least to be inside the ac...
ah. it's nice to be out again in nature. i will miss this intensely if we move back east.

rub a dub dub.

one of finn's great aunts, (a certain redhead -so he has to claim her :) called me to say she loved my post about finn at 10 months, but she was going to need more pictures. so this post has lots more pictures. love ya mary anne... i mean, err... anonymous caller.

bathtime. finn loves it. usually i get the honors sometime during the day- but occasionally we save it so daddy can help.

mohawkin it.
gimme daddy.

so, i heard a nasty lil tale about these bath toys- they are perfect breeding grounds for mildew & mold. YUCK. so. we're trying to make sure and squirt them empty & occasionally we'll want to clean them out- any recommendations on anything safe (he loves chewing on these things so i don't want to use bleach or anything like that)
love this one.
yeah self portraits!
some finn lovin.
wrinkly toes.
we've started brushing his teeth since he has FIVE :) ... he loves his tom's toothpaste. he likes to nibble now which makes this always exciting.

nothing beats a clean baby boy- his soap is lavender & then i rub some lavender lotion with a touch of euculyptus oil on afterwards. that's the best time to snuggle.

trip to louisville.

in march we took a quick 3 day trip home.
it was an incredibly busy trip:
my cousin jackie had her wedding shower!
my sis was in town!
i shot two engagement sessions!
and neil & jody came into town!

i have a couple funny pictures of my mother giving finn a bath... but she's wearing an inappropriate shirt! this'll teach her to bathe my child in filth. tehee. i wish i'd taken a picture of her on saturday though- she got the hottest hair cut! my mama is SMOKIN.

we went to visit grandpa at "the garage".

we stayed with my mom until saturday morning. and then headed over for some paris' time. most of these pictures are of the paris'. for some reason i didn't get my camera out much at mi madres.

here's grandma dee comforting finn after mean ol uncle neil threw a ball at finn's head.
neil trying to get back in his good graces. he was forgiven.
aunt jody lovin on her fav nephew.
my favorite nephew.
what was he doing papa ron? i don't remember?!
some irish dance jig.
di's babe.

i love this one because of evelyn. just chilling out- like an adult.

pop!

melissa & i schooled neil in soccer. he could really learn a thing or two from us.
then we flew home because papa was missing his boy.

aunt sneffani's visit

*these pics are from january*

finn was sick & had been for forever & i was overwhelmed. i called steph & my mom & said, one of you PLEASE come. i need a break. so steph bought a ticket and jumped on a plane that week.

that's love.

my sweet baby sis came to play with finn & help out with his breathing treatments & hang out with us for what felt like tooooo short of a week.

ya'll remember the precious video of finn laughing... that was his aunt sneffani.

here are a few pictures from her trip. i feel kinda bad because i locked myself up in my studio to finish 6 albums for clients, so we didn't do much. but, she really came to play with finn -so i don't think she minded.

she'd come get him in the morning so i could sleep in... but i woke up early enough to catch this sweetness.
i took her to matt's big breakfast... an awesome lil local joint.

num, num, num.

daddy & finn during the laugh fest.

odd faces... :)
why's everybody staring at finn?
bryan took this photo & we entered it into the cutest baby photo on regis & kelly. (couldn't be taken by a professional)
fishee face.
right before we dropped steph off at the airport.

thanks stephi. you're a life saver.

at 10 months old

just the other day finn aged another month. he's now 10 months old. insert every corny thing about time, childhood, life going incredibly fast. it's true. i've read it on a thousand other mommy blogs. we can't believe it, even as we say it. i think it's halfway because we don't want it to be true- or at least that's my case. with each milestone i'm sad. my babe is turning into a kid- it's outrageous. i don't like it. i want him little & cuddly always! now imagine my tantrum on my office floor, not too loud because i don't want to wake this babe- tantrum none the less.

so. finn.

turns the pages of his book, on his own, usually at the correct time after we're done reading the page. BUT. what i think is sooooo cool- we have a book called tails. it's awesome. it has flaps & shimmidiggers that make the tails wag, very interactive. finn knows what to do on those pages- he'll lift the flaps and try to grasp the wagg part. smart lil boy.

he held up a ball today and said baw. he. said. baw.

he also says da (sometimes adding a g) when the dogs are around.

his favorite & first word is uh-oh. it's purty darn sweet coming out of his little voice.

had some zucchini today & liked it. had lots of strawberries yesterday & loved it.

bryan has been putting him down for the night lately, he does this incredibly well. finn might cry for like 5 minutes- and bryan is even better at laying him in his crib- i'd say waking once he lets go only 25% of the time. if i do it i've got a 60% chance we'll start our cycle all over again. occasionally, i'll get tired of our routine & while rocking him to sleep for the 5th time i'll firmly say bryan! (and probably repeat it several times because he's fallen asleep on the couch.) he then comes in rubbing his eyes and takes over for me. five minutes later he comes out & we can either both crash or sit up and talk.

until i call for bryan finn will squirm in my arms & attempt to climb my body- all in protest of sleeping. once i call for bryan, i've noticed he goes limp. like, crap you've called dad, fine i'll go to bed now. so, today during naptime- we did the whole wake-up once laid down routine & while holding him i decided to try it out. i said bryan. finn went limp & was out in like 10 minutes!

the kid is already afraid of his dad! the magic. he already knows dad means business. we knew that in my family- mom said on more than a thousand occasions -wait till your dad gets home! this just cracked me up. i just used this trick again tonight. bryan's at ultimate practice, tehee. snicker. moms are smart.

anyways. this boy of ours. too much fun!

toms.

you need a pair.
so does everyone you know.
they're comfy, simple & doing good around the world.
have you ever been able to say that about a pair of shoes????

i think not -nike!

so click that link above & check it out. for every pair you buy- they give a pair to a child in need. i have two pairs. and i'm about to hit purchase on that awesome yellow pair above. i'm also throwing in my cart a pair for bryan (he tried a pair on tonight, much to my surprise & liked em.) and of course for finny. i haven't decided which ones for him yet- but those blue ones are pretty cute!?

so, if you noticed my post previous to this one... today was
ONE DAY WITHOUT SHOES.
we stayed home most of the day (my taxes are almost done. YEAHHHH!!!!) but, we picked bryan up at the lightrail station & headed to the scottsdale mall -which is where the wealthy peops shop. i walked in barefoot & got a little nervous when on the door was posted shoes & shirt required. so i put them back on. such a wimp! i would have laughed at that sign back in the day.

but i took them off again once we entered hub clothing store!!!!!!!! they were hosting an event for one day without shoes. they sell toms & are the largest seller in az. they had beer, wine & pita/hummus chips from a local yummy, pita jungle. we partook in 2 out of the 3!

here's a few pictures from the event. they had a local artist there to decorate your shoes too! but that line was a bit long.

he's getting soo big. i'd even say too big. STOP GROWING KID.

here's to partaking in good causes. and teaching our children to care! have a great weekend!
